The Insider’s Guide to Wimberley Market Days: Treasures, Tips, and Local Charm

Pecan Market at Wimberley Market Days

Ask anyone around town to name our absolute biggest community traditions, and Wimberley Market Days will always be right at the top of the list. There is a distinct magic that happens on the first Saturday of the month when our quiet, oak-shaded corner of the Hill Country transforms into a bustling, vibrant open-air marketplace. It’s a sensory experience of live acoustic music, the aroma of roasted pecans, and rows of unique creations just waiting to be discovered.

Whether y’all are on a dedicated mission to find the perfect piece of vintage furniture for your living room, searching for handcrafted artisan goods, or just looking for a beautiful way to spend a Saturday with the family, this event offers a true taste of local culture.

Official Rules: What You Can and Can’t Bring

To ensure a safe, family-friendly environment for thousands of monthly visitors, the Lions Club enforces a few firm field rules. Reviewing these before you head out is the best way to ensure a smooth trip:

Shopping with a Purpose at Lions Field

As Texas’s oldest outdoor market—and the second-largest in the entire state—Wimberley Market Days features over 470 unique stalls spread across the beautiful, tree-shaded grounds of Lions Field (601 FM 2325).

What truly makes this massive operation special is that every single person helping run Market Days is a volunteer. The entire event is hosted, organized, and completely staffed by volunteer members of the Wimberley Lions Club and local community supporters. From the parking attendants out on the highway and the friendly faces at the info booths, to the golf cart drivers and the pitmasters working the grills, everyone is donating their time.

Because booth rentals and parking fees go directly into the Lions Club charity fund, 100% of the event’s net proceeds go straight back into our community—funding local youth scholarships, supporting area non-profits, and providing medical equipment for neighbors in need. When y’all shop here, you are directly investing in the town we love.

What You’ll Find On the Field

The variety of treasures hidden across the 19-acre property is incredible. The vendor paths are carefully organized to highlight a massive array of specialties:

Parking and Arrival Logistics

Navigating the market smoothly requires a tiny bit of strategic planning. Here is a quick breakdown of the core arrival and amenity details:

Logistical ElementWhat to Expect

Parking LotsAmple official parking lots are located right across the road on FM 2325. There is a $10 parking fee (cash or card), run completely by volunteer attendants.
Money & CardsThe vast majority of vendors comfortably accept credit cards. However, if you run into a cash-only booth or need money for equipment rentals, there is one ATM machine located right on site for your convenience.

The Early WindowThe early bird truly gets the closest parking spots. Arrive by 7:30 AM to beat the mid-day crowds and the Texas heat. By 10:30 AM, inbound traffic on FM 2325 peaks significantly.

Heavy Lifting: Hauling, Wagons, and Volunteer Golf Carts

Because y’all are bound to find more treasures than your arms can carry, the volunteer hauling network provides an incredibly organized system to help transport your purchases straight into your trunk.

Smart Prep: Bring Your Own Gear

It is always a smart move to come prepared by bringing your own sturdy pull-wagon, a rolling cart, stroller, or a few heavy-duty reusable shopping bags from home. Having your own gear makes it incredibly easy to stash smaller items, local honey jars, and unique finds as you wander the loops.

Gear Rentals for Your Walk

If you didn’t bring your own setup, you can rent heavy-duty gear for the day at two physical field locations: The Main Hauling Dispatch (Booth 6 near Gate 1) and The Info Booth (at Gate 3).

Volunteer-Driven Golf Carts

If you end up purchasing a massive piece of rustic furniture, heavy iron yard art, or a massive haul of collectibles, you do not have to drag it across the property.

Breakfast, Brisket, and Cold Brews

You definitely won’t go hungry on the field. The market features 10 concession stands and designated beer and wine gardens tucked under the trees where visitors can sit down, take a break from the sun, and enjoy classic pit BBQ.

Live Music and Shaded Pavilions

Wimberley Market Days is as much a community music gathering as it is a shopping trip. The field features three separate live music stages set up inside or adjacent to large, covered pavilions. You can grab a plate of brisket, sit down at a shaded picnic table under the ancient live oaks, and enjoy a rotating lineup of local Hill Country acoustic musicians and singer-songwriters playing throughout the day.

You can check out the line-up for musicians here.

When to Go

The market runs on the first Saturday of every month from March through December, rain or shine. While the spring markets are stunningly beautiful, there is something incredibly cozy about the autumn and holiday markets in November and December when the crisp air sets in and the vendors roll out their best seasonal, handcrafted holiday gifts.

Making a full day out of Market Days is one of the absolute best ways to experience the proud, independent spirit of our town. Grab a wagon, support our local makers, and enjoy the hunt!
