Creekhouse Kitchen & Bar

JP’s Wimberley BBQ on River Road is a place for smoked meats and classic sides, with an outdoor play area that helps when the kids are along. Neon Armadillo, south of downtown on Ranch Road 12, combines barbecue and Tex-Mex with a playscape and live music. Meat & Drink keeps the outing closer to the Square with smoked meats, comfort food and a full bar.

Mexican food & Tex-Mex

You don’t have to turn dessert into a whole second outing. Around downtown, Wimberley Candy Cottage combines candy, ice cream and toys; Monster Treats has ice cream and self-serve candy; and Papa Hoo’s Popcorn offers sweet and savory popcorn, specialty sodas and frozen treats.

Rocky Mountain Crepes on Oak Drive is a stop for sweet or savory crêpes, depending on whether you’re calling this lunch or dessert. Twisted Treats adds frozen yogurt and other sweets to the options. The Old Mill General Store has fudge and ice cream, too.

Where can I find vegan food in Wimberley?

The Leaning Pear, Community Pizza and Blanco Brew are useful starting points. For a full meal, begin with the curry or a pizza built around the vegan cheese option.

  • The Leaning Pear: Market vegetable curry with basmati rice is labeled vegan on the online ordering menu. It’s a full entrée to look for when you want more than a side salad.
  • Community Pizza: Build a vegetable pizza with vegan cheese. Confirm the dough and sauce, and leave off dairy-based pesto, finishing cheeses and honey.
  • Blanco Brew: The vegan granola bar is an explicitly labeled snack. For weekday lunch, ask about the quinoa tabbouleh: its listed ingredients are quinoa, vegetables, herbs and lemon vinaigrette. Confirm the dressing before ordering it as vegan.

Can Creekhouse make a vegan bowl?

There are promising starting points, but order with the ingredients in mind. The WTX Power Bowl has quinoa, chickpeas, sweet potatoes and vegetables, plus feta and tzatziki. Ask for it without those two dairy toppings and confirm the dressing. The Wimburrito Bowl has rice, black beans, cabbage, pico and guacamole, plus crema. Request no crema and check whether the beans and rice use animal stock or fat. These are modification requests to discuss with your server, rather than dishes labeled vegan as served.
