Willow Lake Watering Hole & Mercantile

Just a short walk from the Wimberley Square, Willow Lake is one of downtown Wimberley’s dedicated live music spots, with an indoor/outdoor Hill Country atmosphere, drinks, food trucks and a steady lineup of local and regional musicians.

Willow Lake also hosts Picker’s Circle, special music events and occasional festivals in addition to its regular live performances.

Neon Armadillo

Located at The Junction on Ranch Road 12, Neon Armadillo combines Texas-inspired food and drinks with a large outdoor stage, spacious gathering areas and plenty of room for families to hang out.

You don’t have to be at a bar or restaurant to catch live music in Wimberley.

Local nonprofit radio station KWVH 94.3 regularly welcomes Texas musicians into the studio for live performances, particularly during its weekday morning show, Over Easy with Coach.

And one of the coolest parts? When musicians are playing live at the station, you can often catch the performance from the KWVH patio outside the studio while it’s being broadcast on the radio.

Despite the Wimberley name, Wimberley Valley Winery and Lone Man Mountain Brewing Co. are located just outside town in Driftwood.

Jaclynn Renée Wine Collective

Located just off the Wimberley Square at Henson Road, Jaclynn Renée Wine Collective is a welcoming tasting room and wine bar centered around Texas wine, local art and community.

Live music is a regular part of the experience. The Collective hosts Saturday afternoon performances, along with special music events such as its recurring Jazz Night, featuring local and regional musicians in an intimate indoor/outdoor setting.

Concert Series & Special Live Music

Some of Wimberley’s best-known music experiences aren’t traditional bars or music venues at all.

Wimberley Playhouse & Stars Over Wimberley

The Wimberley Playhouse isn’t just home to live theatre. Throughout the year, its intimate setting also hosts special concerts, musical performances, dance, film screenings and other arts events.

One of the highlights is the Stars Over Wimberley Benefit Concert Series, a collaboration between the Wimberley Valley Arts & Cultural Alliance and the Wimberley Players. The series brings accomplished Texas singers, songwriters and musicians to the Playhouse while helping fund scholarships for graduating Wimberley-area students pursuing creative and trade-related paths.

Stars Over Wimberley presents several special concerts throughout the year in the intimate 100-seat Wimberley Playhouse, making it one of the best places in town to really sit and listen to a performance.

The Playhouse also hosts occasional special musical performances outside the Stars Over Wimberley series, so it’s worth checking its Special Events schedule throughout the year.

Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse

Susanna’s Kitchen is one of Wimberley’s longstanding live music traditions.

Held at Wimberley United Methodist Church, the concert series brings accomplished Texas and touring musicians into an intimate listening-room environment while raising money for organizations serving the local community.

Concerts are generally held on the third Thursday of the month, with food and refreshments available before the show.

Live Music at Wimberley Market Day

Shopping isn’t the only reason to spend the day at Wimberley Market Day.

The market features three live music stages — the Pavilion Stage, Hill Top Stage and Shady Grove Stage — with local and regional musicians performing throughout Market Day.

Wimberley Market Day is held on the first Saturday of the month from March through December.

Live Music Near Wimberley

It’s worth driving a few minutes outside of town, too. Several of the Hill Country’s best places to hear live music are just outside Wimberley.

Hays City Store & Ice House

Just up FM 150 in Driftwood, Hays City Store & Ice House has become one of the area’s busiest spots for live music.

The restaurant and Ice House hosts local and regional musicians throughout the week on its outdoor W.C. Clark Stage, named in honor of legendary Austin blues musician W.C. Clark.

With Texas food, cold drinks, a large outdoor space and an almost constant rotation of musicians, Hays City Store is well worth checking when you’re looking for live music near Wimberley.

Vista Brewing

Located in Driftwood, Vista Brewing pairs its beer garden and farm-to-table restaurant with a strong local music program featuring everything from Americana and folk to blues, soul, country, bluegrass and rock.

If you’re looking for a true Texas dance hall experience, head toward Driftwood.

Mercer Dancehall hosts Texas country, honky-tonk and roots musicians with a real dance floor made for two-stepping. Shows are generally held on weekends, and many are ticketed. Mercer is an 18+ venue.

Devil’s Backbone Tavern

Head south toward Fischer and you’ll find one of the Hill Country’s classic roadside taverns.

Established in 1933 along the Devil’s Backbone scenic drive, the tavern has a long history of live music and Hill Country gatherings, with performances ranging from country to rock and other Texas sounds.

Located along Ranch Road 12 between Wimberley and San Marcos, Ragnar’s is geared toward larger, higher-energy live shows, including rock, country and tribute bands.

Middleton Brewing

Located on Oakwood Loop between Wimberley and San Marcos, Middleton Brewing is an easy Hill Country stop for craft beer, food, rooftop views and live music.

The brewery hosts musicians and other events throughout the year, along with beer releases and community gatherings. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, including a rooftop patio overlooking the surrounding Hill Country.

Roughhouse Brewing

Just down Oakwood Loop, Roughhouse Brewing sits on a family ranch between Wimberley and San Marcos and offers one of the area’s prettiest settings for an afternoon or evening of live music.

The family-owned brewery pairs its farmhouse ales, lagers and Hill Country food with concerts, seasonal music series and special events throughout the year. Roughhouse has hosted its free The Hills Are Alive concert series as well as live music during larger events such as Hogtoberfest.

It’s also especially family-friendly, with plenty of outdoor space and a play area for kids.
