Wimberley Village Library: Programs, Classes & Events

Wimberley Village Library Kids section books

The Wimberley Village Library is much more than a place to check out books.

Throughout the week, the library hosts storytimes, kids’ activities, homeschool programs, teen events, craft classes, book clubs, wellness classes, educational workshops, author talks, games and community gatherings for just about every age and interest.

Because the library offers so many programs, and schedules change throughout the year, Wimberley Buzz does not list every regularly recurring library class or activity individually on our main event calendar.

Instead, use this guide to see what kinds of programs are available, then check the library’s official calendar for the most current dates, times and registration information.

Special library events, performances and other notable one-time programs may still be featured on the Wimberley Buzz Events Calendar.

A movement and music program for ages 0–2, giving little ones a chance to wiggle, sing and move.

These programs are typically offered on recurring weekday schedules, but always check the current library calendar before attending.

Kids & Elementary-Age Programs

Older kids will find plenty to do at the library too.

Programming changes throughout the year and can include:

Brick’s Book Buddies

A small-group reading program for younger elementary-age children featuring Brick and Miss Tiffany. Space is limited and registration is required.

Geography Explorers Club

A program for kids interested in exploring different places, cultures and geography through hands-on learning.

Family Fun Programs

The library also brings in special performers, presenters and hands-on activities for families throughout the year.

Past and current programming has included puppetry, music, science, animals, art and other interactive experiences.

Homeschool Programs

Homeschool families should definitely keep the library calendar bookmarked.

The Wimberley Village Library regularly offers weekday educational programs that work especially well for homeschoolers, including science, nature, geography, art and other enrichment opportunities.

Programs may be presented in partnership with organizations such as Hays County Master Naturalists and other local educators and community groups.

Because these programs change from month to month, they are best found through the library’s current youth schedule rather than the Wimberley Buzz main event calendar.

Programs for Teens & Tweens

The library has a dedicated teen program for approximately ages 13–17, along with some activities that include tweens ages 10 and up.

Adult Classes & Programs

Adults may actually have the largest selection of ongoing programs at the library.

Classes and gatherings range from wellness and education to games, crafts, gardening and opportunities to meet other people in the community.

Most adult programs are free and open to the public, although registration may be required for certain classes.

Health, Wellness & Movement

The library offers several gentle and accessible wellness programs.

Current offerings include:

EASE Chair Exercises

A chair-based exercise class designed to make movement accessible to a wide range of participants.

Gentle Yoga

Adult Craft LAB

One of the library’s most unique offerings is its Adult Craft LAB, a year-round creative program for adults 18 and older.

Classes explore a wide variety of crafts and techniques, with projects changing regularly.

The Craft LAB also hosts other creative activities, including an Artist Trading Card Club, special craft events and occasional trivia nights.

Class sizes are limited and Craft LAB classes generally require advance registration.

Book Clubs & Reading Groups

Want to meet other readers?

The library hosts several recurring book clubs with different styles and interests, including:

The Book vs. Movie Club invites participants to read a selected book, watch its film adaptation together and discuss both, although you can still attend the movie even if you didn’t finish the book.

Authors, Writers & Literary Programs

It makes sense that a community with as many writers and artists as Wimberley would have plenty of literary programming.

Face-to-Face With Area Authors

This recurring series brings local and area authors to the library for conversations about their books, creative process and experiences.

Hill Country Authors

The library also highlights local writers through a rotating Hill Country Authors display in its local author section.

Additional author talks, literary programs and special presentations are offered throughout the year.

Mahjong, Spanish & Social Activities

Some library programs are simply great opportunities to learn something, meet people and get out of the house.

Recurring activities currently include:

Mahjong Playtime

Casual Mahjong gatherings for both socializing and playing. Sets are available, and participants may also bring their own.

Spanish Classes

The library currently hosts both Basic Spanish and Intermediate Spanish classes.

These programs are a good option if you’re looking for ongoing activities that aren’t necessarily traditional “events.”

Gardening, Nature & Water Conservation

Wimberley’s natural environment also plays a big role in library programming.

Master Gardeners Present

Recurring presentations from area Master Gardeners cover practical Central Texas gardening topics such as irrigation, native plants, seasonal gardening and landscape care.

Water Wise Programs

The library also hosts educational programs focused on water conservation, rainwater, native landscaping and other issues particularly relevant to the Wimberley Valley.

Nature-focused youth and homeschool programs are offered throughout the year as well.

Educational Workshops & Community Programs

The adult schedule regularly includes classes and presentations designed to help residents navigate everyday life.

Current and recent topics include:

These programs change frequently, which is another reason we recommend checking the library calendar instead of relying on a static list.

Summer Reading & Seasonal Programs

Summer is one of the busiest times of year at the library.

The Summer Reading Program typically brings an expanded lineup of activities for children, teens and families, along with reading challenges, special performers, hands-on programs and seasonal events.

Holiday programs and other special activities are also added throughout the year.
