5 Questions With Lynne Carwile, Co-Founder of Wimberley Buzz

Lynne Carwile, co-founder of Wimberley Buzz in Wimberley, Texas

A few people have asked lately, “Are you actually local?” and “Who is behind Wimberley Buzz?” So, I figured it was probably time to answer those questions myself.

Wimberley Buzz was never meant to be about me. The whole point has always been to shine a light on the people, businesses, events and organizations that make this community what it is. But since so many of you have asked…

I’m Lynne Carwile, an eighth-generation Texan who grew up in a small West Texas town. Fun fact: One of my early Texas ancestors served during the Texas Revolution and was a childhood friend and neighbor of Davy Crockett in Tennessee, so Texas roots run pretty deep in the family.

We moved to the Buda/Kyle area in 2014. With a background in online marketing, I created a local lifestyle website that helped people find the fun in Hays County. I later sold the site, and after spending some time traveling with my family, we made our way back to the Hill Country and settled in Wimberley in 2024.

These days, I have two kids at home and one older child who has flown the nest. When I’m not working on Wimberley Buzz, I’m usually outside, making something, spending time with family or checking out somewhere new around town.

So, in keeping with our “5 Questions With…” series, here are five questions with the person who usually asks them.

5 Questions with Lynne Carwile

What inspired you to start Wimberley Buzz?

I kept finding out about really cool things happening around town after they had already happened. I’d hear about an event and think, “How did I miss that?”

I wanted to create one place where locals could easily find events, discover businesses and see what was happening around the community.

I also felt like there was a gap when it came to reaching locals. Wimberley gets a lot of attention as a tourist destination, but I wanted to create something that also served the people who live here while helping local businesses and organizations connect with their community.

Plus, I love meeting people and learning about what they’re doing, so it was a pretty natural fit.

What do you love most about living in Wimberley?

Definitely the people.

I grew up in a small West Texas town, so I love that Wimberley still feels like a true small community with a really big heart.

People here genuinely show up for each other, support local businesses and care about the community.

I also love the Hallmark-village feel. The Square, the river, the trees, the art, the music and all of the creative people give Wimberley a personality that is completely its own.

What has surprised you most since starting Wimberley Buzz?

How supportive people have been.

We’ve had so many people send messages, share posts or go out of their way to tell me they appreciate what we’re doing. That has meant a lot.

I’ve also been surprised by just how much there is to discover here. We’re constantly finding businesses, events, people and places we didn’t know about before.

I started Wimberley Buzz because I felt like I was missing things. It turns out there was even more to miss than I realized!

When you’re not working on Wimberley Buzz, what are you most likely doing?

Probably outside somewhere, making something or spending time with my family.

I love hiking, observing nature and walking our dogs. I’m also almost always in the middle of some kind of craft, whether that’s hand embroidery, painting or whatever creative project has caught my attention that month.

A lot of our family outings also turn into unofficial Wimberley Buzz adventures. I’m constantly saying, “We should go check this out!” so my husband and kids are often right there with me exploring events, restaurants, trails and new places around town.

What’s next for Wimberley Buzz?

A lot!

We have several new things coming up. Directories, Giveaways, Local Guides and more ways to highlight the businesses, organizations, events and people in our community.

The goal is pretty simple: I want Wimberley Buzz to be a place locals can turn to when they want to know what’s happening, while also giving our local businesses and organizations a place to be seen and supported.

All while having a little fun along the way.

Editor’s Note

This edition of “5 Questions With…” is obviously a little different since I’m usually the person on the other side of the questions. I’m looking forward to getting back to that and sharing more interviews with Wimberley locals!

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has read an article, shared a post, subscribed to the newsletter, submitted an event, told a friend about us or sent a kind message.

Thank you for supporting Wimberley Buzz and, even more importantly, for supporting the people and places that make Wimberley such a special community.
