Wimberley Community Thanksgiving Dinner 2026: Join the Table or Lend a Hand

Happy Thanksgiving lettering surrounded by pumpkins, autumn leaves and acorns on a rustic wooden table

There’s a lot to like about a Thanksgiving table where someone else has handled the turkey and there’s room to meet a neighbor.

The Wimberley Community Thanksgiving Dinner returns on Thursday, November 26, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 Ranch Road 12. The meal is free, all ages are welcome, and registration is recommended.

Whether your usual Thanksgiving plans have changed, you’re spending the holiday close to home or you simply want to share the day with the community, this is an invitation to pull up a chair.

Let the organizers know you’re coming

Use the registration link on the Parks and Recreation dinner page. Registering helps the team plan food quantities, even though there isn’t a ticket charge.

We’d take care of that as soon as the family settles on its plans. It’s an easy thing to put off while you’re coordinating visiting relatives, and a head count is useful to the people preparing the meal.

A tradition built by neighbors

According to the dinner organizers, Wimberley Valley volunteers have served this community meal since 1988. That’s a lot of Thanksgivings spent making sure people have a place at the table.

Events like this are what make Wimberley, well, Wimberley. It’s that small-town charm you feel when neighbors come together, volunteers give their time and there’s room at the table for someone new. Sharing a meal is a simple thing, but it says a lot about the kind of community we call home.

You don’t need a complicated reason to attend. Bring the people you’re spending the day with, or come on your own. If you’re new to Wimberley, introducing yourself over Thanksgiving dinner sounds like a pretty good place to start.

To-go meals and delivery

The organizers list a separate to-go line, with no advance to-go order required. Delivery is also available within 10 miles of the Community Center; delivery requests are due by 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 24.

Use the delivery form on the dinner website, or call or text 512-842-7882 with meal questions or delivery changes. Check the form’s current instructions before submitting, especially the address and number of meals.

If you’re helping a neighbor place an order, make sure they know what you arranged and that the contact information reaches someone who can answer on Thanksgiving. A quick conversation beforehand can prevent a lot of confusion at the door.

Want to help serve? Sign up first

Volunteer registration is through Wimberley Volunteer N.O.W!. The organizers require volunteers to register in advance, so choose an available assignment instead of arriving expecting an open shift.

If you’d like to volunteer with your children, ask which roles and age requirements fit your group before signing everyone up. Serving a meal can be a wonderful family tradition when the assignment works for the children and the team relying on them.

Wear something comfortable for your task, follow the shift instructions and allow time to check in. The less the organizers have to sort out on arrival, the sooner everyone can get to work.

A few details to settle before the day

If anyone in your group has food allergies or needs a specific meal accommodation, contact the organizers ahead of time. Don’t assume a large community meal can provide a separate preparation area or an alternative menu.

Donations are welcome, but the meal is free. Follow the official dinner page’s donation instructions if you’d like to contribute.

Details checked November 3, 2026. Confirm current registration, delivery and volunteer availability with the organizers.
